The Site
I discussed with Heidi the idea to setup a site "just for the heck of it", and as she admitted she had been considering at some point to setup own site as well, that was good enough reason to get this going. I have also been helping my brother to run a heritage site for some years now as a hobby. However, that being an "official" site there has been little room to improvise with the content. Having no specific topic to focus on, our site will probably be a collection of odd bits from here and there. Great if you find something useful, but if not... well, you have been warned.
The Name?
it was a bit of a challenge to come up with a name for the site, as it does not have a specific topic to focus on. In the end, we settled with a name that has meaning of its own in Finnish, "Oikeesti", or "truly". This also happens to be the name of (one of) our favourite songs with Heidi. The song is fairly popular song by a Finnish dance band called Finlanders.
Technical bits
The site technology is based on an open source content management system called Joomla. Joomla has a bit history of its own, and you can read all about it from here. The template for Joomla that is used on this site we have put together ourselves, but I have to admit that I was very inspired by the visual outlook of site po-ru.com, a personal web site by Paul Battley from London. All the best for him for such a clear design. I was following ruby on rails or some other thread when stumbling upon his site. The top logo for the site was inspired also by a photoshop tuturial showing how to make pictures with "pop art" style very simply on photoshop.
